Angels' Mike Trout Fired Up By Eagles Super Bowl Run

By Staff @lavoxdeportiva

Life long Philadelphia Eagles fan and outfielder Mike Trout is fired up and inspired by this Eagles team as they head to Super Bowl LI in Minnesota.

Trout has had quite the off-season, his Eagles are one win away from a championship, he wed his long time girlfriend, and the Angels have gotten Trout some help to compete for his own championship.

While Trout decides if he’ll attend the February 4 game in person, there is no doubt he’ll be watching the game as intensely as the prediction he made on Tuesday morning during a phone teleconference.

“It's going to be tough,'' Trout said. “Obviously, I wish the best to anybody that goes up against Tom Brady. He's the greatest of all time. But I still think the Eagles are going to pull it out. I think they're going to win 31-24, on a late interception off Brady.”

The last time the Eagles made the Super Bowl, Trout was 13 years old as he watched Donovan McNabb lose to the Patriots 24-21 in Super Bowl XXXIX. The older two-time AL MVP and six-time All-Star strongly feels it’s the Eagles time. Even without quarterback Carson Wentz (whom the two have become good friends), Trout can certainly draw some inspiration from this season’s phenomenal run by Philadelphia. Immediately after the Eagles dominated the Minnesota Vikings 38-7 in the NFC Championship, Kobe Bryant sent the team a message of inspiration.

Trout was asked what was his own message of motivation to the team?

"Just go get it," Trout said to the Eagles players. "A Super Bowl is being brought back with Philly in it, so I just told the guys (after the NFC Championship) to go get it!"

Despite Trout's endorsement of the Eagles, he declined to make the declaration that the city's sports fans most want to hear. He's owed $99.7 million over the three years left on his contract with the Angels, and he dismissed the notion that his support of Philadelphia sports reflects a desire to return East and play for the Phillies one day.

"I'm an Eagles fan, and I grew up a Philly sport fan,'' Trout said. "But I love playing in Anaheim, and obviously I have a couple more years on my contract. I love the city of Anaheim, and I love the West Coast.''

In just a few weeks Trout will report to Spring Training in Arizona to begin work on capturing his own MLB Championship with the Angels.

Mike Trout: "I'm an #Eagles fan. I grew up into Philly sports. But I love playing in Anaheim. Obviously I'm a few more years into my contract. But I love being on the West Coast." #Angels
