Hats Off to Jeff Carter in LA Kings Win
By Nick Hamilton @NickHamiltonLA for @LaVoxDeportiva

Veteran forward Jeff Carter accomplished his sixth career hat-trick that led the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes at Staples Center on Thursday night. It was Carter's first since March 4, 2013 against the Nashville Predators.

The Los Angeles win gave them two points ahead of the Anaheim Ducks and into sole possession of third place in the Pacific Division.

"You look back at the last month and they’ve been playing some pretty good hockey,” Carter said. “Last two games they beat two division leaders, so we knew what we were getting into."

Although the Coyotes were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, they enter the game with the Kings on a two game winning streak, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights and Tampa Bay Lightning on the road.

The coyotes played the Kings tighter than a Beyonce jumpsuit majority of the game. With less than 30 seconds left in the first period, Carter scored his 11th goal of the season off of a deflected shot.

Max Domi scored his ninth goal of the season at 5:14 of the second period that gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead. Later in the second period, Carter tied the game 2-2 with his 12th goal of the season. After Carter scored the leading goal in the third, Anze Kopitar scored his 35th goal into an empty net with two seconds left in regulation.

The Kings won their 20th game this season when allowing the first goal, the most in the NHL.

"It was huge. We knew we had to get this one," said Kings goalie Jack Campbell who made 20 saves on the night. "Obviously, that creates a little bit of pressure, but that’s what you play for. We talk about it all the time. You want the pressure because it means you’re in the hunt and it’s a big two points. The guys played great in front of me."
