Lakers Workout Controversial Duke Star Grayson Allen

The Los Angeles Lakers worked out six rookies on Friday morning, one of them included controversial Duke Blue Devils star Grayson Allen.

With questionable actions on the court throughout his college career, adjustment to NBA life is not expected to be a difficult one according to Allen.

"You’ve got to figure out how you can contribute in other ways," Allen told reporters after his workout. "Obviously in the NBA I’ll get more opportunities to be off the ball, with superstars in the league and playing off them. I think I can still expand my scoring and show what I can do on the defensive end with my athleticism."

His reputation isn't the best heading into the NBA Draft, however there is no doubt that Allen can play basketball, and could be successful at the NBA level. He fielded questions from many reporters regarding his antics on the courts against opponents.

“At the end of the day you just have to explain I made mistakes, I went too far but that I’ve grown and matured from it. And honestly, I’m a lot better now after going through it.”

Allen wants many teams along with fans to get to know him as a person, and just what we've witnessed the past four years on the court.

"Get to know my personality. Really, in these workouts I just want to come out here and be myself. Do what I’ve done, be the guy they know me to be. Bring a lot of energy and competitiveness.”

After the grueling pre-draft workout, Allen was grateful for the opportunity and looks forward to being in the NBA with the team this season.

Ironically Allen played with current Lakers forward Brandon Ingram at Duke. The two former Blue Devils got a chance to catch up before his Friday morning workout. Allen gave Laker fans some promising good news regarding Ingram.

“I told him he looks bigger,” Allen told Bill Oram of the OC Register. “He [Ingram] put some weight on, his shoulders are broader. He looks like he’s not being pushed around anymore which, obviously, he’s come a long way. When he came into Duke he was super skinny but he looks like he’s put some good weight on. He looks pretty big.”
